Skull Tattoos

Skull tattoos can be misread by some, initially it looks like the person with the tattoo is trying to scare people or they are trying to look tough. This is probably true in some cases, skull tattoos are often associated with the heavy metal music crowd and motorcycle gangs.

However there is another side to skull tattoos. They depict the human form in it's final and most basic state. Some people wear these tattoos as they believe that it shows how we are all equal no matter what our external appearance is. Skulls can also be interpreted as a sign of truth, getting down to the bare bones of an issue.

Some people wear skull designs to remind them of the temporary nature of existence. That we should live for the moment because one day we will all die. Skulls have also been the symbol related to a number of saints including St. Francis of Assisi.

There is no one particular spot where people tend to get this type of tattoo. Arms, legs, torso, anywhere seems to be a suitable spot for a skull tattoo.
