Christian Cross Tattoos

Many people have Christian cross tattoos to identify themselves as a Christian. It is a symbol for the Christian God, especially Jesus as a reminder of the redeeming sacrifice of the Crucifixion on the True Cross. The cross can also appear in sun, Irish, Celtic and tribal cross varieties.
There is actually a debate between Christians regarding the appropriateness of having tattoos. There is a section in the bible which mentions tattoos:
"You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh on account of the dead or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the LORD."
Leviticus 19:28
As with most religious arguments it is all a matter of interpretation. Christians who believe that tattoos should not be worn by members of their religion take the literal meaning. Tattooed Christians argue that when read in context this part of the bible if referring to Pagan symbols only.
