Celtic Design Tattoos

Celtic design tattoos come from Europe and mostly from Ireland. There a two main types of Celtic design, crosses and bands. Celtic crosses are similar to a Christian cross but they have a circle around the center of the cross. They can be plain but they often have intricate weaving or knot work designs which add an extra aesthetic element.

Celtic band designs consist of a band of these knot work or weaving designs. They can be of varying thickness and in tattoo form are usually inked around the upper arm. You can also get Celtic tattoos in the shape of a triangle, a three leaf clover and even a harp. The common theme is the decorative knot work design.

Some people have these tattoos to show their origins, generally those from Ireland. However the intricate nature of these Celtic designs has lead to them becoming quite fashionable. Many people wear the Celtic band tattoos on their upper arms.
