What Is The Oldest Games Console

If you were to ask what is the oldest games console then technically the answer would be the Odyssey made by Magnavox which was released in 1972. However the first company to refer to it's product as a console was Fairchild when they released their Video Entertainment System in 1976.
Both Nintendo and Sega gave us some gaming fun with their consoles in the 1980's but it was not until the 1990's that games consoles really started to impress. The PlayStation was released by Sony in Japan in 1994. This console read games off CDs and became extremely popular. There were many different titles produced for this console spanning all the types of gaming genre. Due to the PlayStation Sony became the first video game system manufacturer to sell over 100 million consoles.
Nintendo's N64 was their response to the PlayStation and was the first 64-bit home gaming console. Nintendo continued to use cartridges for it's games which was great as there was no long load times as with a CD but this did mean that the games were more expensive.
The N64 was significantly superior to the PlayStation in terms of graphics and there were some great games produced. Goldeneye, based on the James Bond movie, was a simply stunning first person shooter with an amazingly addictive multi player mode. Up to 4 players could play against each other at the same time.
The Legend Of Zelda was another great title on the N64. It had superb graphics and truly innovative gameplay that could only be produced by Nintendo.
