Ratings On Game Consoles

Here are some impartial ratings on game consoles formed from the views of actual game players.

We start with the Best Games Console, the Xbox 360. It seems that the PlayStation 3 is a technologically superior console when compared to the Xbox 360. However, it's going to take some time for game developers to really take advantage of the PlayStation 3's full capability. Also the 360 has an established online gaming system that is currently very popular. So for now at least the Xbox 360 is the console to go for.

The Best Family Oriented Console has to be the Nintendo Wii. This strangely named console from Nintendo is addictive, intuitive and most of all fun. The Wii does not have the graphic ability of the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3 but it aims to make up for this in the playability stakes. The Wii has an innovative motion-sensitive controller that gets players up off the couch, waving the controller around in their lounge. The Nintendo Wii is aimed at families and groups of friends who don't take their gaming too seriously and just want to have fun.

The choice for Best Handheld Game Console goes to the PlayStation Portable or PSP. It does cost more than any other handheld system but it is better than the competing Nintendo DS. The PSP has a large, high-res screen and intuitive controls. It can play games with a graphical quality of a PS2 and as an added bonus it also plays MP3s and video on Memory Stick media cards or UMD discs which adds another dimension to the PSP.
