Comparing Game Consoles

Now is a good time for comparing game consoles as all three next generation consoles have been released. Here we will outline a summary of the Nintendo Wii, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 to help you decide which console is right for your own gaming needs.

The Nintendo Wii is the successor to the Nintendo GameCube and it is backwards compatible so you can continue to play GameCube games on the Wii.

The most unique feature of this console is the control system. It consists of two wireless, motion sensitive controllers that allow your movements and gestures to be translated into the games. There is the Wii remote that looks similar to a standard controller and the Nunkhuk unit with an analog stick and 2 trigger buttons. The versatility of these 2 controllers allows for some really interesting game play. It gets you up off the sofa when playing and is most fun when there are a group of you taking part.

Some people were disappointed by the graphics produced by this console, they are fine but just not as improved as many had expected. This console is best suited for gamers with a love of the unusual game styles that are produced only by Nintendo. If you are looking for a fun, interactive console with original games and loads of multi player fun then this is the game system for you.

The Xbox 360 was the first next-gen console to be released and it has won over a number of hardened gamers. It's amazing futuristic first-person shooter game Halo 2 is reason enough to buy this console.

In fact, if you are in to war games, first-person shooters and strategy games then this is probably the console you should be spending your money on. It has a strong catalogue of games in these departments and they come with some truly impressive graphics.

Another great feature of the 360 is Xbox live. This system allows you to interact online with friends and strangers. You can join together to work as a team and communicate via headsets in some games or you can simply watch your own back and try to frag as many opponents as possible in others.

The PlayStation 3 is the latest console to come out and it has some pretty stiff competition. This console is technically similar to the Xbox and a lot of the early releases have simply been ports of existing Xbox titles which has led to disappointment amongst many Nintendo fans.

The PS3 has a motion detection aspect to it's controller called the x-axis. Some people think it was a last minute add on as a reaction to the more advanced Wii controller. As such many of the release titles did not support this feature and if they did it was just an add-on rather than an integral aspect of game play.

This console does have the potential to be the best of the lot, a couple of the early releases have looked very promising. Really only time will tell if there will be enough first class games to beat the Xbox 360 off the top spot as the best next generation games console.
