You may be wondering if you can get aviation arcade games for your console that match, or at least get close to the experience you can achieve in a PC based game. Well the short answer is - yes and no!

The best flight simulation and aviation arcade games are still produced for the PC. The extra processing power and memory of a PC is more suited to producing a life like flying experience than any console currently available.

However with the release of the latest next generation games consoles you are going to be able to get closer to a PC style flight sim on your console. The latest 3 consoles to be released are the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii. They are more powerful than before and importantly they have a much greater memory capacity. They may not be quite as realistic as their PC counterparts but what they lack in realism they can make up for in action and game play.

So should you pack in your PC and become a console gamer? Well this depends. If you are into ultra realistic flight simulations where you feel like you are in control of a real aircraft then the answer is no. You should stick to you PC, at least for now. If you are more interested in realistic air borne combat with a large element of action then the newest consoles may surprise you with some highly enjoyable aviation arcade games.
